DEVELOPMENTAL Editing

Why a Developmental Editor

Writing a story or a memoir is a huge endeavor and when we're in the thick of it, lots of little things can be overlooked concerning readability, content, structure of the telling, and flow. A skilled editor versed in developmental editing can fine tune your work and make it shine.

How do we at LIONWORKS define a Developmental Editor

We are guides who help you plan the overall structure, theme, and tone of your manuscript chapter by chapter.

Irrespective of when you engage us, you retain control over your manuscript and are responsible for providing all its content. We don't make changes directly to your manuscript but instead provide guidance and suggestions, although some "hands-on editing may be used to illustrate  principles of craft and mechanics.

What Developmental Editing is not!

While there maybe a bit of line editing, it is not  Line Editing. It is about Story Telling.

Testimonials

Julie Stuetzle

I  can highly recommend Ron as an editor in mentoring, guiding and editing  your work up to its full potential. Ron worked with me on my novel from  last Fall  0f ’17 to the Spring of ’18. He gets his skill set from being an author  himself with many years of practice. His skills of doing a creative  edit are keen with keeping the whole story and plot in mind. The ideas  and insights which Ron gave me on what the characters  needed, the pacing, narrative and dialogue really improved my story  exponentially without me losing my voice. Also, Ron’s grasp of grammar  and how a novel works or doesn’t  was instrumental in helping me  complete my work. Ron collaborates with the author on  every level.

Ron worked with me on two of my books and I was so pleased at the amount of time and expertise he put into the process. His creative reviews were detailed and picked up the little things we writers miss in our own works. What impressed me most was his ability to move a paragraph here or there or even a whole chapter to another section of the story to enhance the overall story line. He works proactively with the writer and with me, after he presented his creative report and gave me a few days to digest it, we debated his suggested changes. If you want a thorough, professional review of your work and a grammatical check, I highly recommend Ron. You won’t be disappointed.

I am very happy with the creative edit provided by Ron Bagliere. He  pointed out areas in my writing that could be improved upon and places  where I needed to provide clarity. I will definitely seek out his  expertise again. - Sandra J. Jackson
